GUI: Windows 7

Released in 2009, Windows 7 was a well received upgrade from the problematic Windows Vista that preceded it. A finely tuned interface with new multi tasking features and a refined version of the aero theme made this version a hit with business and home users.

Windows Vista and 7 came equipped with a simplified theme known as "Basic" which lacked transparency and many other modern effects. If graphics drivers were not present or properly configured, this theme would be used. Once drivers were correct, Windows would assess your graphics capability and move you to the standard Aero theme.
