GUI: Mac OS X 10.7 Lion

2011 saw the further unification of Apple's mobile operating system with their desktop operating system. Several iOS features such as FaceTime, Reminders, and iCloud syncing were introduced with this version. The Calendar and Address book apps in this release are notable for their use of skeuomorphism.

Install:

Lion was the first version to not be sold on physical media. The installer was sold exclusively in the Mac App Store. Some MacBook Airs were shipped with small flash drives of the install media, but other users hoping to do a clean install had to create the install media themselves using terminal, or some free programs distributed on the web.

One of the more controversial new features in Lion is known as "natural scrolling." This does away with the counterweight metaphor that has traditionally been used in computer scrolling, and flips it to mimic the way you would scroll through content with your finger on a tablet or phone.
