GUI: OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Yosemite was released alongside iOS 8 in 2014. Both systems were designed using the flattened UI introduced in iOS 7. This design was met with mixed reaction, but continues to this day and seems to be reflective of an industry wide flattening of interfaces for a "minimalist" look.

A notable change in Yosemite was Spotlight search. While the icon remained in the top right corner, clicking the icon brings up a larger dialog at the center of the screen with the results of your search.

Boot Screen:

Yosemite included a new boot screen with a progress bar. On late 2012 and newer Macs, the firmware was updated to use a black boot screen. On older systems, the same design was used, but with the gray color scheme of the previous boot screen.
